Free Pattern - Ziggy Hat - love, love, LOVE!!!

Happy Christmas! As promised here is my Christmas pressie to you! My Ziggy Hat as a free pattern!

I love it, especially how to yarn changes color in the rows.

Hope to see loads of pictures of finished hats on my blog, facebook or Ravelry!

You can download a copy of the pattern here!

You can find it in my Ravelry and Craftsy shops as well!

Supplies

Yarn:

Any yarn that is specified for hook needle size 5 mm, should work well with this pattern.

I crochet loose, so please keep that in mind with gauge.

I used:
Big Delight color 09 - Atlantis for the Hat - 1 skein
and
Drops Nepal for the example pictures in the pattern

SC 10x10cm (4”x4”) = 17st x 22 rows
HDC 10x10cm (4”x4”) = 13st x 11 rows
DC 10x10cm (4”x4”) = 11st x 8 rows

Hook needle 5mm

Yarn needle to weave in ends

Stitches used:

MC - Magic Circle
CH - Chain
SLST - Slip Stitch
SC - Single Crochet
HDC - Half Double Crochet
FPHDC - Front Post Half Double Crochet
DC - Double Crochet
DC2 - This pattern is worked with 2DC cluster. This is the same as DC2tog in the same stitch. I will call it DC2 in this pattern.

Every round is joined with a SLST to first DC2.
The b round is joined with first CH and first DC of previous round.

Every “a” round starts with CH2 and DC, this will count as your first DC2.

Size: Teen/Adult
If you would like a smaller size, remove increase rounds. It’s best to stop increasing on even rounds, otherwise you will have an odd number of DC2’s in between zigzags. It is possible to work with an odd number, you just have to SLST around 2 posts instead of 1. See row 4b.

  1. This hat is adorable!
My boys (two and a half) fought me hard when it was time to switch from their "gobble" (turkey) hats to their Christmas hats. Now, we are that family that is still wearing Christmas hats a week after the holiday.
Maybe the boys would be willing to switch it up for this hat...
    Thanks for sharing!
